9:00am to 10.30am Session 1. The Talent Tripod
The concept of how the talent agenda supports any investment programme.  How sharing the risk between supplier, investor and the leadership teams could develop in the future.  The private equity industry is frequently viewed as a sector that looks for a quick return at the expense of people.  This is an opportunity to show how the return can only be delivered by linking the talent strategy to the overall business objectives.
  • The relationships between private equity firms, the talent industry and leadership teams within portfolio companies can be taken to the next level, i.e. what could be done rather than what the norm today.
  • What are the defining characteristics of a successful relationship between private equity and search firms. How do you share the risk? Different models of working.
  • How can the support of the investor and the specialist supplier working with portfolio backed companies enable a business to deliver high growth?  How could these groups support a leadership team?

- Jerome Losson, Principal, KKR/Capstone
- Joe Haim, Partner at Egon Zehnder
- Mike Fish, Chairman, Exie AS

Session 2. Assessing Talent
A key challenge for the private equity investor is to identify, develop and retain leadership teams who are able to step up to delivering an outstanding return on investment. We examine some of the varied programmes used by investors to assess their newly acquired Human Capital.

  • What does a 100 day assessment plan look like for a newly acquired company?
  • Evaluating the capabilities and potential of leadership teams prior to an investment or acquisition.
  • How do you evaluate whether your leadership teams are equipped for the next stage of development and whether their skills sets are scalable to deliver the new business goals?

- Cristina Grace, Global Head of People Programmes, 3i
- Stuart Overend, Head of Operations, Aberdeen Asset Management
- David Oates, CEO, The Distillery
- Patricia Mallett, Business Psychologist, Mallett Consulting

12:30pm to 2.30pm Lunch

Session 3. Talent Acquisition
Attracting the right talent to lead a portfolio-backed company requires an understanding of the needs of the investor compared with the motivations of an executive. We consider how the recruiter can support the aims and aspirations of both parties and how they can best work with the private equity industry.

  • Why is resourcing for portfolio companies different from alternative funding models? How the investor and executive balance the trade off between compensation and equity.
  • Do different stages of development require different skill sets for key executives, and what are they.  How developing the employer brand and working through recruitment partners can support this.
  • What does the private equity investor want from the recruitment industry?
  • Finding within days not months proven Executives to manage change and transition - Interim Executive Management

- Martin Wood, Managing Director, BIE Interim Executive
- Laura Morse, Human Capital Partner, Atlas Venture
- Michael Kelly, Managing Director of Nova Capital Management
- Dee Vassili, HR Director, Vue Entertainment
- Steve Knibbs, Chief Operating Officer, Vue Entertainment
